SwitchedOn is a fatigue management program that involves interactive and practical workshops to help your team and leaders tackle the Big 5 Fatigue Busters and boost productivity.
What challenges does it tackle?
Managing employee fatigue is critical. Did you know that fatigue is the primary cause of 30% of all heavy vehicle accidents? It is also the reason shift workers have twice the injury rate compared to non shift-workers. The statistics are alarming. In this program we turn your team's fatigue into engagement by introducing the "Big 5 Fatigue Busters":

Switch off - sleep well
Sleep is the holy grail of fatigue management, so we teach your team how to make sure they get a good night’s sleep.

Eat smart
Eating less sugar and processed foods is the key to good nutrition and a healthy weight, so we teach your team how to eat smarter, especially when doing shift-work.

Energise with exercise
Moving is the quickest way to energise, so we teach your team the latest evidenced-based exercise ideas, including HIIT - High Intensity Interval Training, a fun way of exercising that’s suitable for pretty much everyone.

Knock out the negative
Automatic negative thoughts are common traps into a negative spiral and workplace, so we teach your team mental agility and resilience

Connect on purpose
Wellbeing is linked to healthy relationships, so we help build a workplace with a good social culture to promote less fatigue-related incidents and, overall, less safety concerns.
How it works
The program builds knowledge and capability through 5 modules over a 6 month period and embeds the “Big 5 Fatigue Busters” in your team and workplace.

1. Pre-Assessment
We conduct a check of your workforce’s health parameters and fatigue risk, and review your organisational stats like safety incidents and absenteeism
2. Practical Education
Our team goes on site to deliver interactive and practical workshops, focusing on the “Big 5 Fatigue Busters”
3. Manager Training
We conduct specialist manager training to ensure the workshop lessons and tips are practically embedded and championed
4. Specialist High Risk Training
We offer one-on-one coaching for employees whose health stats have shown them to be at high risk
5. Assess results
We repeat the tests carried out in the pre-assessment to assess changes and demonstrate your ROI
Each phase is delivered within a framework that ensures lasting behavioural change, by focusing on a mixture of:
Educating your team with the latest evidence-based solutions.
Equipping your team with easy and effective tools to change their behaviour.
Enabling your team to be accountable for their own energy levels and job performance
And, to help you get the most out of your program we’ve developed a range of collateral that helps all levels:
6. Switched On Workbook for participants
Including sample exercise plans, menu plans, practical mental wellbeing techniques, and personal challenges linking to each “Big 5 Fatigue Busters”.
7. Manager-specific training and resources
Supporting your managers with regular visits from our team and workshops covering:
◦ Fatigue-proofing and assessment methods
◦ Understanding and implementing the Fatigue Management Policy
◦ Dealing with negative feedback and lack of participation
◦ Recognising mental health and wellbeing warning signs
8. Communications Kit
Which includes posters of the “Big 5 Fatigue Busters”, along with graphics and templates of key messages to include in newsletters and emails.

How it works
Our qualified professionals coach and educate your team to recognise your body’s warning signs that signal it’s time for a physical and mental reset. Delivered onsite, your team can put theory into action within their own work environment, which increases uptake and memorability while recruiting champions from within your team helps the change become part of the culture.

We understand every workplace is unique, so we use a 4-step approach to understand exactly where we need to focus.
1. Customisation
What you’ll do.
You’ll take part in an onsite organisational review and needs analysis with a dedicated Program Manager. They’ll ask these sort of questions:
- What’s your current accident level?
- What high-risk activities does your team undertake?
- How many team members are at risk of stress?
What happens behind the scenes.
Based on your answers, we build a custom SafeSpine™ SafeMind module, including providing you with promotional posters to build awareness before kick-off.
